Gives Me Hope

So this is my first official post.(it's Mike wooo) Well first off not much to say over here except woo energy drinks, and lots of them at that. Ok well first off in our spare time we have been looking at sites such as MLIA, or FML, or TFLN and FMSL, but this new one we found, its called www.givesmehope.com, this site basically made me cry it is that sentimental. So if you have time I hope you go see this site and maybe bring a tissue. until next post, peace.

Not much to add....

I know its been a while since our (my) last post, but I'm sad to say that nothing much has happened. We had exams, which were....less than exciting. We both were almost late to our Chem exam...almost. Other that it's back to work.

Cedar Point!!

Today FYRE went to Cedar Point for HalloWeekends, it was AWESOME! The weather cooperated amazingly, it was warm and it didn't rain except for a three minute sprinkle when we were on the Skyhawk. Best of all was that all the rides were walk-on, we didn't have to wait for Maverk or Top Thrill or Millennium Force. The longest line we had was for the haunted corn maze because we got in line ten minutes before it opened. When we were walking (<--that's good alliteration) through the corn maze, I was pointing out all the people to Ally so she wouldn't get scared, and I saw one to the left, quite obviously standing in the light. Just as I thought it was clear, because that person wasn't moving, BOO! Like lighting, another person jumped out from the opposite wall and scared me to death. The girls didn't want to ride any of the big rides so Jon and I rode them while the girls either waited or went and rode something a little less thrilling. That was my first time at HalloWeekends and it was so much fun I think we're going back this weekend...we'll see.

Random Stores...(Part 2)

So today, my Asian teacher, from Canada needed to tell us his websites name, which had a ~ in it, he used the term "little wiggle" bahahahahahaha funniest thing I've heard since I've been here, to enjoy this fully you'd probably need to hear his accent.

So a while ago I suggested to Mike that when I hear him put his keys in the lock (while Im on the inside of the room) I was going to quickly open the door, push him, then grab his keys thus locking him out. Dirty loser pulled it on me, it was slightly funny.

Some of you may be proud, Mike was watching a YouTube video of "I gotta feeling" so I played it in iTunes and I got the music to sync up perfectly, [Jon 1 Music 0]

Kurt and I went on an adventure the other day...all the way up to the 16th floor...we live on the 3rd. We went and saw what all the other floors were like, it was pretty cool. So now we decided we were going to paint our floor so it is equally awesome.

You made WHAT out of Duct Tape?

So I finally fulfilled my dream of making a Duct Tape hammock today, it was hanging in Kurt and Marc's room, but Kurt broke it so I took it back to my room to fix it. I have a picture of me in it, it'll probably be on facebook soon, stay tuned. I have no idea what I'm going to build next...any suggestions?

CD War

So we decided to walk in Kurt and Marc's room and throw CD's at them, you know just to scare them...well that turned out into an all out CD war, until I shattered one against a door, so we ran and hid. Then we came out again-Game Play Resumed. Then we had a contest to see who can throw one the furthest, one of the contestants couldn't stop curving it into the bathroom, where it shattered...then we finally calm down, after like 5 CD's and some candy was thrown. Suddenly we hear a crash, then lots of mini-crashes, we open our door to see Kurt on the floor, picking up pennies that were thrown down the hallway. Also, during this entire war, our RA was no where to be seen and the war worked out pretty well.

Pranks

Mike took a quiz on facebook (which always leads to no good), long story short, it told him he would get prego (pregnant) in three days, so to celebrate Marc and Kurt taped a whole bunch of papers together, then they taped it to our door...so using our door for a guide, we ducttaped a giant arrow looking thing, then we taped it to their door and waited till morning...my only regret is not being there when he opened the door...

OSU Game=Trip to Cleveland!!

Hey guys, how's it goin? This weekend we had the OSU game in Cleveland Browns stadium, which was pretty cool. We lost, our team was sub-par, as was the fan turn-out and the bands performance, but it still was a pretty good time. We got to explore Crocker Park, we walked around forever. Then later Marc and I walked around the hallways for a while, then we got our swell on in the gym. Then we tried to go to sleep because we had a long day before us, but one of the people we were rooming with snored, like no other. Oh yea, I forgot to tell you, we drove down there in the evening, the night before and we stayed overnight in a hotel. We didn't get back till after one in the morning...I was tired.

Random Stories...(Part 1)

Our door got baby powdered today...I woke up, went to go take a shower, and there was baby powder all over the floor in the hallway, and all over our door...so after my shower I just cleaned it up, wasn't a problem-amateurs.

Unrelated story, Ally and I were walking in the student and I pressed the button to make the doors open up, instead of just pushing them myself...she called me lazy. After we walked through the doors, a couple of guys were walking and they were like "SCORE! We didn't even have to press the button!" Must be a guy thing...

We were at dinner one day, and Mike got up to get more to eat, so I put four or five sugar packets in his almost-empty Mountain Dew (it was fair-game, he walked away), turns out he noticed the quarter-inch thick layer of sugar...Kurt and I just blamed it on the Mountain Dew's natural sugar content.

I feel like I should be on MLIA now, Marc was super bummed so I was talking to him and stuff, after an intense evaluation I ruled it a dementor attack.

I wanted to pull a prank on Kurt by put his phone in his ceiling, then calling it so he'd look EVERYWHERE for it and wouldn't be able to find it. I managed to get his phone but he was in his lofted bed, so I had to hide it behind some Ramen Noodles, then I called it. Nothing happened. He started looking for it (for no apparent reason) and he couldn't find it, so I was like, here Kurt, I'll call it. Then he tells me, don't bother-its on silent.

For those who care-everything else is going pretty good so far, classes aren't too bad, but the food just keeps getting worse...

President Wimer

So I joined FYRE (First Year Rocket Engineers) and I signed up to be a candidate for President. Yesterday we had elections and I just (about an hour ago) found out that I am the 2009-2010 President of FYRE. I'm pumped, I finally caught a break, although the guy I wanted to be my VP isn't anything...But I'm still excited, looks like it's going to be a great year (anyone smell a scavengerhunt, UT edition?)

P.S.-I just thought I'd add that campus is getting TRICKED OUT because of the Colorado game Friday, Im pumped-Look for me on ESPN

Another one of Jon's great moments of BS

Mike and I went to Marc and Kurts room to hang out and Mike (who was sitting across from Kurt, who was next to me) told Kurt to watch a video online, I noticed that Kurt was busy on facebook so I was like "[to mike] he's at the site [to Kurt] click on that video" so then Kurt just keeps on surfin facebook, and he starts laughing at the situation, so Mike, who thinks he's laughing at the video starts laughing too, then he asks Kurt which part he's at in the video, and I answer "the part where the guy pulls his guts out" so they both laugh [Mike at the video that ISNT playing at Kurt at the fact that Mike thinks we're watching the video]...Its one of those "You had to be there" times...

Prank #1

So Mike and I aways check the mail as we walk by via a small glass window built in to our mailbox. We also always complain about how we never have any mail...So before I left for Labor Day weekend, I stuffed our mailbox FULL of fliers and coupons, to make him think we got a ton of mail. After I left I texted him saying I was getting a package, so check the mail and if anything comes in, text me. Later that night I was with Jaco and we told Mike to check the mail because I was getting something from E-Bay, [Jon 1 Mike 0] he then replied to Jaco, Jon stuffed the mailbox full of crap, so I hid it all around his stuff so he'll be finding it for the next month... [Jon 1 Mike 1] Then, with the leftovers that were sitting on my desk, we slid them under Marc and Kurts door (their friends of ours), and waited for them to get back. When they finally arrived we could hear them from our hiding places like "What the heck!?!" and Marc just started laughing. [Jon 2 Mike 2 Kurt&Marc 0] so then we got into a war with Rana, stuffing them under our doors, then Mike and I went downstairs and got another 100 fliers, then shoved ALL of them under/in/on/around/in between/through Rana's door, which she opened as we were in operation, long story short-She screamed, we ran. [Jon&Mike 3 Rana 0]

Second Day of Classes!

Today was my second day of classes...our professor didn't show up to calc, so I walked out, then in chemistry there was another no-show so I walked out of that class too...then I had my BioE orientation class, which was pretty rockin, I pretended to be the teacher for a little bit (which was pretty funny) and sometimes when people walked in I'd ask "Honors Latin I?" and they'd just look confused and start backing away when we'd all break out in laughter and say its BioE...and I got the secret code to the BioE lounge...all Bioengineers get it, but no one else does, I feel special. Then I had marching band (which I'm starting to dred) and then Trig Review, the class I was going to drop until the professor turned out to be awesome, and I found out there's only ten sessions, class is twice a week for five weeks, that's it. I was pretty excited about that...

First Day of Class...

Today was the first day of classes, which was pretty crazy, I had twenty minutes to get across campus, but I made it because all of my classes let out early. In my Calc class, my teacher decided not to show up so he sent his TA, who walks in five minutes late, he's a six foot tall middle eastern man, with a semi-heavy accent...then I when to chemistry class, where I found out Mike and I have the same class, then we went to eat at the International house (which was pretty good) then I had to go to my Honors Reading Conference, which turned out to be BOMB because everyone in that class is pretty talkative and its a discussion based course.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Its been pretty crazy the past couple days, tons of time spent on the field for rehersal, but that'll all change when classes start, SOME of the food places opened up today (I was previously living of Ramen Noodles and water...) and a friend of mine and I got food at Rocky's today. It was pretty good, cheese burger and amazing fries for a swipe of the meal card. I'm pumped for tomorrow-Ally and Mike come up.

First Day of Band Camp=Intense

Yesterday I had to wake up at seven to be AT the CPA for band rehearsal at 8:00 in the morning. After three hours of baking in the sun, we got a break for lunch, then from 1 to 4 we rehearsed again, then we had to be back for a meeting at 6...everywhere we go we have to bring our water, our music, our instrument, and a stand. Not one of those cheap wire stands either, these ones are legit. Its almost exactly like freshman year Normandy. They had a lot of people drop out and not do it this year because they had a really chillax person running the camp, then all of a sudden a new person comes in and wants to get stuff done. Mr.Moro reminds me EXACTLY of Mr.Z, I swear they could be cousins. Then my section leaders are like Tyler Petek and Dan F., and one of my field commanders is like Ceara Bozikis...its weird...I like it so far I guess, not just band-UT in general. Mr.Moro outlawed other college apperal yesterday, he said that we should have pride in our own schoool, and that if we want to wear a school's uniform, then why not UT's? I agree. Oh, since this is college we get to play TWO shows, the first one is a Russian show, and the second one is Motown. I think EVERYONE should come see a game, or even two games to see both of our shows at the Glass Bowl. Since its Sunday I dont have rehearsal till 1 o' clock so I've got some down time to memorize the music. LETS GO ROCKETS.

First Day In UT

Today's my first day in UT, so far, so good, all my stuff is in my room and my bed is made, Im working on the rest right now...at 5:30 all us band geeks have to meet at the CPA (Center for Performing Arts) for a cook-out or something...I dunno....I dont have a refridgerator and it sucks (because Mike doesnt move in until the 19th) we'll see how it goes.

Last Day In Parma...

So TODAY is my last day in Parma, Tomorrow I'm leaving for UT...I'm 99% packed, all I have left is last minute stuff like my laptop and my phone charger. I'm not sure if I'd say I'm excited or nervous, I'm devoid of all emotion at this point, I just want it to be tomorrow already...The thing is, I'm having trouble deciding what to do on my last day...any suggestions?

Shopping...

Sunday Mike and I went shopping for dorm stuff...we got EVERYTHING we'd need so we're all set to go, I leave in ten days, TEN DAYS!

Mud Hens serve as a good omen

So this weekend I (Jon) visited my sister with my grandma, we took a tour of Toledo today, where I saw tons of places I can't wait to go to. Then, at seven in the evening we went to a Mud Hens game (Toledo's AAA Baseball team) The first three innings were depressing, I though I was back in Cleveland (The score was 5 to 0) Then we get a home run (5 to 1) then a base hit, then another home run (5 to 3) then we get a base hit, then ANOTHER home run (tied at 5), then we go scoreless till the seventh inning, where it become 8 to 10 (we're up by two[mostly due to a hit that was should have been a grand-slam but was robbed by a wall...]) top of the ninth inning they tied it up so it was 10 to 10, then in the bottom of the ninth, with one out, yep you guessed it-HOME RUN!! We win the game 10 to 11 and defeated the Buffalo Bison (affiliates of the New York Mets [we were affiliates of the Detroit Tigers]). An amazing game and a great way to start my soon to be college life. (12 days [that's a mere 286 hours] till move-in)

July Update

Hey guys, its JULY so nothin much has been going on college-wise. I have to have my schedule redone due to Biotech/AP credits...Im one or two credits away from being a sophmore, Mike and I are both fine and PUMPED for August and if you're going through Wimer-withdrawl you can always check out my other blog here. We Finally Got Our Something!!

So the other day we got our "Something" we ordered offline...we got the StickUp Bulb... which kinda sucks because I wanted a garden gnome but whatever...I think Im going to replace my hood orniment with the StickUp Bulb...which also has its own website here http://www.stickupbulb.com/ ...oh Anthony Sullivan what would we buy without you?

Orientation!

This is it, we're officially Toledo Rockets and we've been introduced to Rocket life and we got our schedules. The day started off with us leaving at 5:30 IN THE MORNING! Then, after walking around chilly Toledo we found the Student Union (it didnt take us long at all, there were signs...) We found the orientation place then we both checked in, and got bags full of goodies (remember my goal is to get my $20,000 worth out of UT) So it started out at 8:30 with my honors college seminar, which sucked and was boring [Jon 0 Mike 1] but I found out that there's a unique opportunity for honors college students, they get to go to Italy for ten days! Its for a class and its not exactly cheap but its an option. after the honors thing I met back up with Mike at the main hall, then we had to sit through an orientation (which was boring) at our table there was a girl, who was an absolute witch to her mother, her mom was like "ok, then we can go to this (pointing to the schedule)" and the girl was like "get out of my face!" and then later she tried making her mom carry her bag, her complete disrespect for her mother was sickening and a little bit amusing. After the seminar we got to go to a large conference room where we got to play a "game". The people working the orientation asked our smaller group questions (there were six groups, R-O-C-K-E-T) if we got the question right, we got points, if we got it wrong the other team could steal it (you guys know how games work) so then they asked for a volunteer, someone else from my group went up and so did Mike and four other people, they played musical chairs and the girl from my table won (thats right, she beat Mike [Jon 1 Mike 1]) so then there were more questions, then they asked for another volunteer, MY TURN! This time, when all six of us got up there and they told us we had to dance like the opposite sex (so I had to dance like a girl, no problem) after deliberation, I was the decided winner [Jon 2 Mike 1]. Since I won I got a tattoo (and I texted Ally about it and she got mad, Im pretty sure she believed me for a good 3 minutes [Jon 1 Ally 0] but then she realized that it was impossible because Im in orientation [Jon 1 Ally 1]) so then we were released to the campus fair? (a whole bunch of tables set up for all of the schools clubs/activities/other random stuff) and I got animal crackers from the Rocket Wireless table [Jon 1 UT 0] Then Mike and I went down to the bookstore so I could apply, after which we went back to check out the tables, then we smelled it...lunch! when we were waiting in the buffet line we saw a sign for Cedar Point, Adult admission $35, Soak city admission $24, Combo pass, $67 ... ... (Think about it, 35+24=59, which is <67)> http://journals.utoledo.edu/kristopher/index.php/journey-in-south-africa-post-1/ ) he was a pretty cool guy. Then Mike and I split up, I went to engineering, he went to pharmacy. I had to ride a bus over to the engineering complex, then all the engineers met in the auditorium. I looked around...I was surrounded by geeks and nerds! but then the guy started calling certain majors out to schedule their classes and by the time engineering technology and civil engineering were called all the geeks were gone, then my group (the bioengineers) were the COOLEST people EVER! I found out that engineering has the best computer labs on campus and there's a special lounge, just for bioengineering students! after registering for classes (which was a very easy process we all got to do online) I got a bioengineering lanyard and a pin that says "Im a bioengineer-its ok to be jealous) On my way out I had to have my picture taken because they put pictures of all the engineering students in a huge showcase, and I had to answer a question (what is your dream job? I said garbageman because they only work one day per week but I think she only put garbageman...) and I got to nominate a teacher who had the most influence on me and my decision to be a BIOengineer (I cap'd that for a reason, you'll find out later) the teacher you nominate gets recognized by UT and the principal of the school also gets notified! then, out of the corner of my eye I saw a mini roller coaster! it was so cool! so I signed up for roller coaster team, which gets to go to multiple amusement parks and go behind the scenes! once back on the bus I had to wait for everyone to finish registering and to get on the bus, then we went back to the building we were in again, after getting my UT rocket card (with my picture on it) Mike and I had to go to another seminar, then we went to another one after that and we walked out because it was boring...we stopped by a Chipotle before heading home (big shout out to Mike, who DIDNT get a ticket this time [Jon 2 Mike 2])

Oh and my schedule, it gives me 10 minutes to get ACROSS CAMPUS in between classes, but when I have classes right down the hall from each other I have TWO HOURS! ...oh well

PS: Mike and I would greatly appreciate comments as they tell us whether or not we're doing a good job, thanks =] IM PUMPED FOR AUGUST

Yard Sales!!

Mike and I went Yard Sale-ing today for random stuff...down the street from me we got a couple of strings of Christmas lights for a dollar and then we went to Hannah's house because she made mac & cheese, and then we saw it...the true Green Machine, it is a 1987 green racing bike, which is PERFECT for me...and to top it off, guess how much it was? Yep, $10! So now Im pumped and ready for tomorrow (we're leaving at 5:30!) for orientation, Ill be sure to let you guys know how it goes.

Something

We just ordered something offline....what you ask? well its something...we know that much...after searching for a $10 bike, and getting into an arguement with a random guy from craigs list...[Jon 1 Random Guy 0] we decided to order Something off the internet...so we went to http://www.somethingstore.com/index.html and ordered "Something" for $10, which is a better investment...we're hopeing its a bike but who knows. In a week when we get it we'll be sure to let everyone know what it is and maybe we'll even be interested in selling it on craigs list so we can be the random guys...who knows?

Pre-Rocket Launch

Tomorrow Mike and I are going to go up to Toledo again for our Orientation, I have to be there at 8:30, Mike doesnt have to be there till nine. [Jon 0 Mike 1] But I get a special breakfast with the Honors college [Jon 1 Mike 1]

Welcome to The College Experience, a blog all about the crazy shenanigans that are a part of everyday college life. Placement Test Visit

To start off our Toledo experience right, we went up to UT to take our placement tests...being the slackers that we are, we didn't study (mostly because we didn't think we had to take any...thanks RANA) After copious amounts of long corridors with ten foot ceilings we finally found the testing center. We put our stuff in a locker (Jon got locker no.1 Mike had locker no.3) [Jon 1 Mike 0] Mike had to take Chemistry while Jon had the pleasure of taking TRIG and Chem...Jon still isnt sure why his ACT scores couldnt get him out of the testing....[Jon 1 Mike 1] because his scores are higher than Mikes so he shouldnt have had to take it [Jon 2 Mike 1]. After ten minutes Mike had to wait for Jon's slow butt because he had to take the Trig test...Jon finished his Chem test in eleven minutes while Mike finished it in nine [Jon 2 Mike 2]Then Jon took the twenty question trig test (which had unlimited time) in five minutes because it was the hardest test Jon has EVER SEEN. After the test they went to McDonalds for some refreshments (AKA Sweet Tea). On the way home, in order to get Jon back in time for work, Mike drove 88 in a sixty, and got pulled over by a cop in Fairview [Jon 2 Mike -28].
